Processor Card
Processor Chip Card (also called "Smart Card"), are chips with a little processor embedded.
This processor could be 8-bits, 16-bits or 32 bits, and is running on limited ressources (RAM, clock frequency, ...)
Processor Cards are intended to be used in project where Security is the key.
The chip of a processor card is able to perform some complex computation.
It means that access to data is always made with commands sent to the processor and interpreted by the Operating System.
Operating System of a processor card could be more or less complex, with more or less security level.
A processor card can not be counterfeited.
Sample of processor cards are:
- Banking cards
- Identity cards with signature functionamlity
- SIM cards
- Pay TV decryption cards
